In Ares the AI doean't do anything outside helping you get more actions and you can semi-predict them based on how many cards you turned and last turn you decide the order. The AI in Race works against you and you try to limit it by your choices (not helping with specific phase selection) while hoping for more actions due to different phases selected by AI, but AI actions is random die roll, unpredictable. You pay for cards with cards in hand in Race, you pay with production in Ares. You cycle a lot in Race through cards to find the ones you need (cause you use fewer cards), you don't cycle as much on Ares. The first is that I decided to dig into the game’s terraforming options.
